5 Simple Ways to Dominate and Thrive in Life

In 1936, a man who grew up milking cows on a farm in rural Missouri authored a book that would go on to sell 30 million copies and become one of most famous and influential works of all time.

In doing so, he helped define a genre of writing that has endured and thrived to the present day and laid the foundation for countless other authors to share their perspectives and experience with readers all over the world on how to develop themselves, grow, and find success in their lives.

That man’s name was Dale Carnegie, and his book How to Win Friends and Influence People has for over eight decades set the standard for insightful advice on how to successfully work with others productively and harmoniously.

The early criticisms following the rapid success of Carnegie’s book (because there is always going to be someone with something to say) was that the wisdom he offered was “extremely simple” and labeled him a “peddler of personal growth.”

One could suspect by just a casual overview of his most classic work that not only was this not offensive to Carnegie, but it was exactly what he was aiming for with chapter titles such as “” – List examples of Carnegie titles.

Another individual whose prolific and unmatched achievements across art, architecture, literature, and science has spanned the test of time had this to say about the beauty that lies in the basic: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”  These words from Leonardo Da Vinci echo in time and provide the foundational argument for the five easy ways to dominate life shared below.

In a world saturated by life hacks, growth tips, hidden strategies, and insider secrets the most tried and true path to success runs counterintuitive to the complex list of solutions constantly on offer.

It’s not that these aren’t helpful, they just aren’t fundamentally necessary.  You don’t need to overthink things.  Incredible power can be harnessed through dedicated attention to a subset of core principles that hold the potential to accelerate your relationship building and skyrocket your personal growth.

These five ways will improve your efficiency, your leverage, and most importantly do not take a PhD. in interpersonal communication to master.  Ignore them at your peril.

Without further ado, here are five simple ways to dominate your life:

       1.      Be Reliable.

Reliability is the quality of being trustworthy and performing consistently well.  Being a reliable person means the audio (what you’re saying) matches the visual (what you’re doing) 100% of the time.

You cannot put a price on the ability to build trust with others, and each chance you get to demonstrate your level of integrity will solidify a strong reputation that will precede you in all that you do.

Your reliability is a direct reflection of your character, and when you leave no doubt others can depend on you in a time of need and that your word is your bond, you will blow the doors of opportunity wide open.

2.      Be Relatable.

Be someone others would want to spend their time around.

In a world of conflicting viewpoints, pointless arguments, and divisive language, you have the chance to stand out as someone who can be a unifying presence among others.

Exhibit the strength of your own convictions but respect the differences you have across viewpoints and appreciate how that provides a deeper degree of richness to interpersonal interaction.

The uniqueness of your personality will inevitably draw in certain types of people that will naturally gravitate to you and that you’ll connect easily with, but the overall goal is to demonstrate a high degree of authenticity no matter who is in your company.

Does this mean you have to pander to the particular audience you find yourself in front of?  Absolutely not, but it does mean exhibiting a high degree of emotional intelligence within social situations aimed at leaving others with a net positive feeling after spending time around you.

The ability to be relatable in its most basic fashion operates more on “feel” or “instinct,” but it does not change the fact that if you are living your life with an open mind and open heart you will be in a natural state of heightened relatability.

As a consequence, others will not be able to help themselves when being drawn into your orbit, strengthening the bonds you have with them as you expand your network of allies and advocates.

      3.      Be Resourceful.

Learn what tools you need to maximize your return on investment, and know when to ask others for help.

The power of a tool like the internet is the unprecedented global access it provides to thousands of resources to empower you.   There is no shortage of strategic thinkers, books, articles, webinars, podcasts, videos, and courses all at your disposal and the majority for free or practically nothing.

The internet has democratized information.  In an age where ideas are the new currency of progress, being able to quickly access and leverage the unparalleled power it provides will afford unlimited access to upside potential.

4.      Be Resilient

In the face of doubt, adversity, or fear, leverage your mindset and your skillset to overcome your obstacles.  Stay humble at your peaks and stay focused in your valleys.  Trust that your time will come.

Resilience is one of the greatest character builders because it calls upon us to examine who we truly are at our core.  Resilience breeds responsibility, because it eliminates the ability to blame anyone or anything for the circumstances that we are in.

Showing that we can weather the storm and come out stronger will equip us for any future issues that may come our way, so the more we can actively develop this trait the sharper our will to succeed becomes.

5.      Be Relentless.

Never settle for less than you deserve. You were put on this earth for a reason and your #1 goal is to figure out what that reason is.

Wage an all-out war on mediocrity and complacency.

This is not a dress rehearsal.  Being relentless means not simply accepting the life you are living is the best you can ever do.  It means waking up every day wanting more and not being able to stop thinking about your goals, your dreams, and your ambitions from sunrise to sunset.

The more you can exhibit a relentless drive to better yourself, the more distance you will put between yourself and anyone that even thinks about competing with you.
